After postdoctoral training in cancer gene therapy at the MDACC, Baxter, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Ramon Alemany leads the Cancer Virotherapy Group at the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and the Institute of Biomedical Research of Bellvitge (IDIBELL) in Barcelona since 2001. He is an expert on the use of viruses to treat cancer (virotherapy), and in particular on oncolytic adenoviruses.
