2 Postdoctoral and 2 laboratory technician/research assistant positions in gene therapy for metabolic and/or neurodegenerative disease

We offer 2 full-time post-doctoral and 2 laboratory technician/research assistant positions in the field of cell and gene therapy for metabolic and/or neurodegenerative diseases, initially funded for 3 years. The project will be developed in the laboratory of Prof. Biffi at the University of Padua (Padua, Italy) and at the Gene Therapy Program of the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, Boston (MA, USA).

Postdoctoral positions
The main task of the postdoctoral fellow is to optimize cell and gene therapy strategies for metabolic and/or neurodegenerative diseases. The project will be based on the exploitation of in vitro and in vivo assays.

Qualifications: PhD or MD/PhD title obtained within last 3 years, qualified for experiments in vitro and with mice (stem cell transplantation and basic animal surgery), team leading communication and reporting skills and strong publication record. Candidates (m/f) should have demonstrated solid previous experience with: mouse handling (human hematopoietic stem cell transfer, virus infections, collection of tissues, preparation of tissues for histology), immunologic analyses (multicolor flow cytometry), molecular biology (lentiviral and/or adeno-associated vector construction and production, and/or genome editing) and cellular biology (transduction and culture of cell lines and primary cells). Excellent organizational skills, initiative, responsibility, team-work mentality, fluency (verbal and written) in English, experience in writing animal study protocols, computer skills for data analyses and presentation and reports.

Laboratory technician / research assistant positions
We are looking for an energetic and highly organized technician/research assistant interested in optimizing cell and gene therapy strategies for metabolic and/or neurodegenerative diseases. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field

Experience in working in a molecular and cellular biology lab Experience with research animals (mice)
Good problem solving skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills

Enjoy working as part of a team
Looking for candidates who are able to make a minimum of 3 year commitment to the position Duties and responsibilities
Working with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff members on research projects Using and understanding a wide variety of laboratory protocols
Working with research animals (mouse models)
Extracting DNA, RNA, and proteins from blood and tissue samples
Basic data analysis
General lab maintenance
